Shutters
Shutters
Classic. Custom. Made to Last.
There’s a reason shutters have stood the test of time—they’re beautiful, functional, and effortlessly elevate any interior. With clean lines and built-in architectural appeal, shutters offer precise control over light and privacy, while blending seamlessly with nearly any design style—from rustic to refined.
Available in a range of finishes and custom colors, shutters can be tailored to match your existing trim or add contrast with a bold painted look. We especially love pairing shutters with soft drapery panels for a layered, high-end feel.
Smart design, made for mountain living.
At Elegant Avenue Interiors, we offer both eco-friendly wood composite and natural wood shutters. One of our favorite options is Woodlore® from Norman®—crafted with a solid composite core that resists sagging, cupping, and warping, even in high heat. These shutters hold up beautifully in our high desert climate, with UV inhibitors that prevent fading and yellowing over time.
For shaped or hard-to-cover windows like transoms, shutters are an ideal solution. Their custom fit fills the entire opening with a clean, classic frame—and with features like InvisibleTilt™, you get sleek, tilt-rod-free operation that delivers both style and durability.
Comfort meets convenience.
Looking for modern functionality? Many of our shutters can be motorized, giving you control from a remote or smartphone app for ultimate ease and comfort throughout your home.

Shutter Features
“A Tailored Solution for a Beautiful—and Busy—Dining Room”
For a recent client in Washoe Valley, we explored several options for their dining room windows. Their home had a classic, traditional style—and two large, enthusiastic dogs who loved announcing the arrival of every delivery driver.
In the end, shutters were the perfect fit. We designed them with split functionality, so the top portion could remain open to showcase their stunning views of the Sierras, while the lower section stayed closed to keep the pups from spotting visitors. While a top-down, bottom-up shade could have worked, shutters offered greater durability and were easier to clean—ideal for an active home with pets.
The finished look? A beautifully framed bay window that felt custom, clean, and totally practical for everyday living.
Specialty Shapes
Shutters are one of the most elegant and effective solutions for specialty-shaped windows. Whether you have arches, angled transoms, circles, or half-moons, custom shutters can be crafted to fit seamlessly—highlighting the unique architecture while still offering light control and privacy. Their solid framing and tailored construction enhance the beauty of these distinctive windows without sacrificing function.
Waterproof Durability with Woodlore® Plus
For areas where moisture is a concern—like kitchens, bathrooms, or laundry rooms—Woodlore® Plus by Norman® offers the perfect solution. These shutters are made from a reinforced wood composite core with a waterproof exterior coating, making them resistant to warping, swelling, or peeling. Durable, easy to clean, and beautifully finished, they bring the timeless look of shutters into even the most high-humidity spaces.
Effortless Control with Motorized Shutters
Take your shutters to the next level with motorization—offering seamless control at the touch of a button. Whether you’re adjusting hard-to-reach windows or managing privacy and light throughout the day, motorized shutters can be operated by remote or integrated into your smart home system for ultimate convenience, comfort, and modern living.
